You can always buy a pair of the over counter readers. They come in different powers so since your just wanting to see things a bit bigger I suggest that you get the weakest ones they sell. They are marked so look for +1.00 power. Some stores don't sell anything weaker than +1.25, but if look around you will find stores that sell the +1.00's. Now understand that your eyes will have to adjust to them when you start wearing them. Your close vision with them on should make the words in a book appear a little bit bigger for you, but anything more than a few feet away will start to become more and more blurry with them on. But with constant wear your eyes should slowly adjust to them for seeing a little bit further away with each passing day until your able to see fine with them at all distances.
If your vision is perfectly normal, wearing unprescribed glasses will hurt your vision. If you do need glasses then go ahead. If you don't need glasses you can get the fake glasses they sell online. BTW, glasses don't make things look bigger, just clearer. I loved using glasses but I switched to contacts because I play sports and when I run, my glasses fall off. Also, contacts don't give you a weird tan line :).I have a classmate that uses pescribe contacts and wears glasses. Enjoy your glasses!!!
..these glasses are really only for reading but if you use them than you might have a problem with your Vision already and if you use them for a longer time than sooner or later you need glasses for sure and than you have to see the eye doctor or optometrist. You're not crazy, that seems for me like you start to loose vision already a bit if you want everything to look bigger so it's easier to read..
It is OK to wear the ones from Walgreens. They will make objects appear larger. Unless you have hyperopia, they will make distant objects blurry. Most people don't tolerate that well. You can't harm your eyes by wearing them.
If you try to use the drug store reading glasses to look at distant things it will be out of focus, you can get fake glasses (ones with no power, just plain lenses) on line and in some stores, if you want them for the fashion aspect of it. <
